Mission Statement

The Mayor's Office for Senior Citizens supports healthy aging, independent living, and social and civic engagement for all people, and especially older adults and adults with disabilities.

Description

Seniors Training Seniors in Computer Technology -

Our program received national recognition in 2007 from 'The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging' - 2007

Seniors attend classes taught by trained volunteer Lead instructors who are 50+. Assistants may be 16 to 50+. Classes are small (6) and only held during the day. Most locations are for the personal benefit of seniors learning technology. These class are not job-related.

PERSONAL BENEFIT CLASSES ARE:

Introduction to Windows (mouse, desktop and e-mail); Beyond the Basics of E-Mail (attachments, etc); Exploring the World Wide Web (w/security issues discussed); Easy Photo Editing (w/Elements); Basic Introduction to Using Word.

JOB-RELATED CLASSES ARE:

Seniors currently seeking employment may register with our Age 55+ Employment Resource Center. Registered clients may be eligible for the Seniors Training Senior job-related computer classes according to their skills level. Classes are: Introduction to Computers & Email; Advanced Windows XP; Electronic File Management; Word I and II; and Excel I & II(database skills)
