Mission Statement
We at The Shakespeare Squared Foundation hope to inspire other companies, universities, organizations, and educational publishing leaders to join us in being catalysts of change in education.
Description
More than 2 million new teachers will be needed in the United States this decade, both to replace retiring teachers and to meet the needs of increasing school enrollments. To encourage and enable more diverse, dedicated, and capable students to complete their teacher education programs, Shakespeare Squared, the innovative full-service development company serving educational and trade publishers, has established The Shakespeare Squared Foundation.
Kim Kleeman , president of Shakespeare Squared, created the Shakespeare Squared Annual Scholarship in Student Teaching and the Shakespeare Squared Annual Award in Student Teaching at Northeastern Illinois University in 2006. Knowing firsthand the economic difficulties of being a student teacher, she decided to give back to the community and industry by paying the expenses (tuition, university fees, childcare, classroom supplies, commuting, housing, test processing fees, and wardrobe) of students in financial need during their student teaching semester.
The Foundation's Goals:- To offer student teaching scholarships to deserving and qualified applicants
- To acquire corporate sponsorships and partnerships to further the Foundation's contributions
- To give discipline- or grade-specific classroom starter kits that include trade and textbooks, free trials to educational websites, and classroom supplies to all student teacher applicants
