Mission Statement

Educate2Envision International invests in youth from underserved areas to be their own innovators in tackling poverty - starting in Honduras. We go beyond donating school supplies and building schools to drive economic development in rural communities through student-run small businesses. Our core strategy replaces traditional student sponsorship models with a cost-effective work-study program that delivers financial aid in return for student-led community service projects. We believe the only option should be investing in education programs that can directly lead to sustainable financing of education for future generations to come.

Description

Work-study Program

For our students and their families, the cost of secondary school (less than $100/year) is out of reach. For the small number completing primary school, they face a new financial hardship in attempting to cover school and transportation fees. There is a large absence of secondary schools within a safe walking distance of most rural villages. The combination of cost and distance are the cause behind over 80% of rural Honduran adolescents being denied access to higher education. We offer financial assistance in return for a 120-hour per year commitment to community service. For each year a student remains enrolled, the level of financial assistance increases 10% as an incentive to continue working towards their goal.

Youth Entrepreneurship Project

We address education inequality through the lens of self-sufficiency; we have established a program that ensures the sustainable financing of each secondary school. In partnership with national banks and universities in Honduras, each group of students is provided training on how to launch a small business. Afterwards, the revenue is reinvested towards the school fees of current and future students while helping them gain marketable skills.
