Mission Statement

To promote a better understanding and appreciation of the Florida Panther Wildlife Refuge and Florida panthers and to improve the status of the Florida panther in the wild through education, outreach, and advocacy.

Description

To accomplish our mission, the Friends develop displays, power point presentation and conduct programs on and off of the Refuge. We solicit public support on panther and refuge issues through education and advocacy. In addition, we publich a quarterly newsletter on the activity of the Friends and a monthly newsletter that tracks panther activity including births and deaths We provide funding for panther research as well as help fund the purchase of refuge equipment like radio collars and remote cameras that track panther movement. Our principal partners include Audubon, Defenders of Wildlife, the Conservancy, the Florida FWC, the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and the Florida Wildlife Federation.
