Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a new community where youth participate in defining personal, educational and professional goals and achieve them

through life changing programs, projects, and one-on-one coaching provided, in part, by mentors who hold positions of leadership in Bay Area business, government and educational institutions. Our Vision: A generation of youth who have reversed the trends of poverty, crime, unemployment, medical imbalance and lack of educational achievement that leave many communities of color in despair and individuals without hope.

Description

Reality Mentor Inc: Founded in 2005, Reality Mentor is a mentoring program for high school students of color in the Hayward and Fremont Unified School Districts. Our youth: are selected by the school districts from 9 th graders with a "C" grade average and matched with professional mentors in leadership positions in businesses and corporations. Reality Mentor , Inc. makes and maintains a connection between business, government and educational professionals and community youth, Building relationships that work toward developing the next generation of leaders within a variety of professional and social environments. Reality Mentor 's program : consist of one-on-one mentoring, job shadowing and training in personal development skills, such as - Business Etiquette & Dressing for Success - Building Leadership Skills - Developing Effective Communication Skills - Enhancing Self Esteem & Body Image - Employment and Career Preparation - Budgeting and Investing - Planning for College or Vocational School - Conflict Resolution & Mediation Skills
