Mission Statement

The Old Davie School Historical Museum 's mission is to preserve and showcase the heritage, culture, and history of the Davie Community.

Description

The Old Davie School Historical Museum is a museum housed within the first permanent school building in the Everglades . The building was designed by August Geiger, one of South Florida 's most prominent early architects. Davie School opened its doors to 90 students in 1918 and was in continuous use as a school until 1980.

This historic structure is now Broward County 's oldest existing school building. Now known as Old Davie School Historical Museum , the building represents an irreplaceable link with the history of early 20th century pioneering, settlement, and education in western Broward County . It has become a historic, cultural, social and artistic resource for the community. The Davie Historical Society and Davie School Foundation are dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting local history, providing information and creating learning opportunities for students of all ages.
