Forever Angels USA provides financial assistance to select programs that provide life saving care to orphaned and vulnerable children in Tanzania and to sustainable outreach initiatives that empower families to stay together.
Description
We are a US based 501(c)(3) public charity that fundraises to support carefully selected East African based charities that we measure as going "above and beyond". The majority of our founding and current board members are former volunteers at one particular charity that provides such excellent assistance - The Forever Angels Baby Home in Mwanza, Tanzania. Our name is a testament to the impression the baby home left on the volunteers. The Baby Home provides a stable and loving home for up to 60 disadvantaged orphaned or abandoned babies and children from 0 to 5 years. Since opening their doors in 2006, Forever Angels has cared for 221 children. Forever Angels specializes in caring for some of the countries most vulnerable children, including those suffering from HIV/AIDs. These children are provided with nutritious food, a stimulating environment, love, and medical care. It is staffed by trained and dedicated Tanzanian care givers who provide love and support while giving these children the best possible start in life. After serving the Mwanza Community for a number of years, it became evident that there are many families who are able and willing to care for their children at home, if given appropriate support. When a Tanzanian mother dies in childbirth the remaining family are generally unable to afford the formula needed to keep the new born baby alive and thriving. As part of the daily work done by Forever Angels staff on the ground, a new outreach program - The Maisha Matters Project - works to provide education on the use of formula, importance of using clean water, weekly weight checks, and general support for these families. There are also a number of families who are too impoverished to properly provide for their children. In these instances, Forever Angels helps the care-givers to start an income generating business. They also help these families by paying the initial rent on a safe house and furnishing that house if necessary and ensuring the family has enough food and access to health care while they are getting back on their feet. Forever Angels now works with a large number of families within the local community providing milk, training, childcare skills, housing and business setup costs so that families can bring up their own children and provide for them now, and in the future.
