Description
Founded in 1980 as a joint initiative of the private sector and Asia-Pacific governments, the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) has developed an extensive network of opinion leaders, researchers, officials and business executives in 22 Pacific Rim economies. PECC is the only private body to serve as an observer of the premier development and policy organization of the Asia Pacific region - the inter-governmental forum for Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Record-breaking economic growth has fueled the rapid development and upgrading of telecommunications infrastructure throughout the Asia-Pacific region. In no area are the benefits of the APEC-PECC partnership better realized than in the field of communication and information policy. The PECC Telecommunications and Information Industies Forum is working together with the APEC Telecom Working Group in order to facilitate information exchange and engage in cooperative policy development in various areas - including Human Resource Development (HRD) National and Global Infrastructure (NII/GII) policy development Standard Setting and Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA) of equipment certification Promotion of E-Commerce applications and opportunities.
