Marshall Area Youth Network

Description

Marshall Area Youth Network (MAYN) is a youth serving organization that has been making a difference in the lives of Marshall youth by partnering with Marshall Schools and the Marshall community for the past 20 years. MAYN coordinates two separate mentoring programs among four different Marshall Schools and one Leadership program at the Marshall High School. Both Career Mentoring and the Lunch Buddy program serve at-risk students who have been referred by school staff. The Marshall Leadership Team (MLT) provides mentoring, leadership training, and distinctive learning opportunities to at-risk Marshall High School students. After school programs, such as the BAC/GAP (Boys are Cool/Girls are Powerful), are based on the identified preteen needs of 5th and 6th graders served. MAYN-KIDS (Kids Interested in Discovering Science), a 2nd grade after school workshop focuses on science education. MAYN continues to remain involved with school and community based child and adolescent alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention programs and services. In-school and after school education and mentoring programs are provided by MAYN in addition to a variety of community engagement and agency networking activities. In 2013 alone, MAYN collaboration with the Marshall community provided nearly 1700 volunteer hours for mentoring, education, and preventive programs for Marshall youth. Over 800 mentees, mentors, students and other volunteers within Marshall were directly reached through MAYN. The Marshall Area Youth Network and the Marshall community is "Involved To Make A Difference"!
