Mission Statement

Youth Conservation Corps, Inc. (YCC, Inc.) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides education, life skills and career development opportunities for young people. The mission of YCC, Inc. is to provide development services to youth and young adults so that they can become productive citizens, working, participating and living in Lake County, Illinois.

Description

YCC AmeriCorps and YCC YouthBuild Programs share the same development components of education, counseling, life/job skills development, leadership development and graduate follow up services. These programs each have distinct work experience components that include building affordable housing, environmental/safety training or job readiness depending on which component the young adults participate in.

Our AmeriCorps/YouthBuild Programs serves approximately 30 chronically unemployed, out-of-school, ex-offender, economically disadvantaged young adults ages 16-24, located in Waukegan and surrounding communities by helping them find direction and success for themselves and their families. YCC AmeriCorps/YouthBuild Programs are designed to run on an eight to ten-month cycle. YCC provides: alternative education for GED or high school diploma, college, vocational training, life skills, counseling, workforce skills training, career development opportunities, job placement, and follow up with graduate services.
