Mission Statement

The National Museum of Natural History is dedicated to understanding the natural world and our place in it.

Description

Butterflies and Plants: Partners in Evolution, will give visitors the opportunity to walk among living tropical and temperate butterflies and plants, and learn how they've co-evolved over millions of years.

Located on the 2nd floor of the Natural History Museum between the Rotunda and the Insect Zoo, the exhibit will have two parts: the Butterfly Pavilion - an immersive live butterfly experience, and Partners in Evolution - displays will explore ways in which insects and other animals have co-evolved with plants to bring us the biodiversity we see today. We will introduce several of our scientists, and take a look at some of the research and collections that make up the Natural History Museum.
