Want to help our beloved senior community? Join the Program Activity Team! PIKE MARKET SENIOR CENTER & FOOD BANK Program facilitators are at the heart of Pike Market Senior Center activities. We're welcoming a growing number of older adults living in downtown Seattle to participate in new meaningful activities and programs, online and onsite, that encourage well-being and lifelong learning. That's where you come in. If you have an interest, skill, or knowledge, you'd like to share to help enrich the lives of older adults who have limited resources, join us! Currently, we are recruiting volunteers to lead or support new member-requested programs. Activities include social, educational, creative, fitness & health, and support groups, such as: Local history, arts, music guest speakers Diabetes, caregiver, "creative aging" Computer, technology Writing and journaling Languages Dancing - all forms Karaoke Yoga, Tai Chi Strength and balance, Meditation Drawing, painting, watercolor, crafts Book and movie club Becoming part of the programming volunteer team is easy! With even a small effort, YOU can have a huge improvement in people's lives! Are you bilingual, friendly, and looking to make a difference in your community? The wonderful seniors at the Pike Market Senior Center need your help! We are looking for friendly volunteers to assist with day-to-day translation for our community members. The Pike Market Senior Center serves a hugely diverse community. We are open to all adults 55 years or older in the downtown area, and many of our members speak English as a second (or third!) language. We need your help to support them: by translating mail, applications, and other day-to-day documents, you can help our wonderful members connect with social services and community. No social services experience needed! Our staff will be available to answer any questions you might have. We particularly need: Spanish-speaking volunteers. IDEAL VOLUNTEERS: Can commit to a regular presence at the Senior Center, in order to build trust with our members Are fluent in English and Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, or Chinese/Mandarin Are friendly, patient, and communicate well WE WILL: Schedule an interview session to explain the role Provide an orientation Provide training and guidance as needed TOGETHER WE WILL: Ensure vulnerable seniors in the downtown area have access to social services and community! Do you like to get up and get moving? Do you want to support seniors? We need additional help with our weekly Friday deliveries! The Pike Market Food Bank delivers about 100 grocery bags per week to our hungry homebound neighbors. We are looking for volunteers to deliver 20 - 40 of these bags on foot to a set list of our clients in and around the Pike Place Market on Friday. YOU ARE... Available on Friday mornings (9:30 am -12 pm) Empathetic and respectful of disabled and homebound people Passionate about making sure our downtown neighbors are getting the nutrition they need Comfortable lifting up to 25lb and handling a loaded cart on public sidewalks Able to pass a background check (administered by PMFB at no cost to you) Able to make a 2-3 month commitment WE WILL... Schedule an interview session to explain the role Train you on the route with a staff member Pack the non-perishable items in the bags before you deliver them (staff will give guidance and assistance on packing perishable items the morning of delivery) Ensure you have the proper support on your designated route, be it a helper on route or in packing assistance. TOGETHER WE WILL... Make sure that our neighbors get the nutritious food they need! Support each other by each lending a hand and making the food bank a welcoming place.

Are you looking for volunteer opportunities that get you up and moving? We are looking for friendly and physically able volunteers to join our warehouse team. Pike Market Food Bank serves hundreds of people weekly, providing pick-up groceries, deliveries, and to-go snack bags. To make these operations stocked and running, we rely on an excellent team of volunteers and staff in the warehouse to handle our donations and keep supply rotation sorted, organized, and tidy. We particularly need: Monday Helpers who are able to heavy-lift When: Weekly - Monday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm (Times are flexible) IDEAL VOLUNTEERS ARE... Comfortable with frequent heavy lifting (up to 50lb standing) Able to commit 3 hours to weekly volunteering Able to take directions well Interested in physical work that gets you up and moving around Work and communicate well with others to reach a common goal Do well in both team-oriented and self-paced environments WE WILL... If you're looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community, the Pike Market Food Bank could use your help! We're in need of a reliable driver every Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to collect food donations from nearby grocery partners. As a volunteer, you'll get to visit a designated store weekly to retrieve donations and transport them back to the food bank. It's a really important role that requires some training, sincere commitment, and reliability ! You'll need to have your own vehicle with enough space to fit 10-15 banana boxes of food and be able to lift at least 50 lbs. We would like volunteers in this role to commit to a minimum of 6 months . Additionally, volunteers are required to have a valid driver's license, pass a background check, and have some availability in the morning or afternoon. The Pike Market Food Bank is excited to welcome you as part of our dedicated volunteer team!
