Mission Statement

GSF’s mission is to provide meaningful education for underserved youth in Los Angeles through garden-based learning in outdoor living classrooms.

Description

The Garden School Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides interactive garden-based education to underserved children across Los Angeles in our beautiful living classrooms. Since 2003, we’ve been turning asphalt into ecosystems, working to create a healthy, educated and aware future generation that care for their bodies and for the earth.

GSF unlocks the learning potential of school gardens with our Seed-to-Table curriculum. This unique standards-based educational platform takes classroom learning and turns it into an interactive and hands on experience, incorporating science, math, and literacy with cooking and gardening classes. Lessons are carefully constructed to make learning interactive, fun and memorable while instilling healthy eating habits and fostering a connection with nature.

Our edible school gardens provide a living laboratory where children can play, learn and explore, but they also serve as a community center where families, teachers and community partners can meet and collaborate. The Garden School foundation’s mission is always to bring the community together, through after school activities, workday events, festivals, workshops and more.
