Mission Statement

The mission of Associated Student Press is to educate, enable and empower student journalists to become indispensable sources of news and information in their own communities, especially communities underserved by other media.

Description

ASP is a non-profit start up seed-funded primarily by news foundations that provides online and offline services to help network the estimated 23,000 staffs of high school newspapers and journalism programs nationwide. Our goal is to eliminate every technological obstacle to high school journalists being able to publish, at least online. We provide free web-hosting, a customized html-free template, and the first Web-wide database/search engine for high school news. Our small staff and volunteers are focused on helping students cover real news that impacts their lives in the belief that, if we provide online help, they can jump the digital divide and translate (sometimes literally) for their readers on paper, on air, or online.
