Mission Statement

The Fauquier History Museum is devoted to furthering community interest in the history of Fauquier County and of Virginia. Collecting a large amount of historical material covering several centuries of local history from the Pre-Columbian period through World War II and beyond, the Society displays a number of exhibits depicting these various periods.

Description

The Fauquier History Museum seeks to achieve its mission by efforts made both inside the museum itself and by community outreach programs. Within the museum we provide the public both with interesting and thought-provoking displays that primarily relate to the history of Fauquier County and with research resources including books, documents, and photographs that are available upon request. Reaching into the community, we are currently working with the Fauquier County Library for its childrens' summertime scavenger hunt game and with the Fauquier division of www.rootsweb.com a genealogical group that posts family and historic photographs and genealogical assistance to researchers.
