Mission Statement

Westcave Preserve's mission is to inspire kids and their families to develop lifelong practices of spending time in the natural world.

Description

Westcave Preserve is an exceptional 30-acre nature preserve and state-of-the-art Environmental Learning Center in far Western Travis County that was established in 1983. More than 5,000 school children visit the preserve each year during weekday field trips and another 3,000 visitors participate in the weekend tour program. A field trip to Westcave Preserve combines the opportunity to observe the plants, animals, and geology of the Edwards Plateau with a hike into a cool, sheltered canyon of lush plant life. We serve as a premier living laboratory and environmental education resource for children and adults, while engendering a new generation of environmentalists through active investigation and connection with the site's spectacular natural features.
