Mission Statement

The Summerhouse mission is to provide customized programs for youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities where individuals feel valued, respected and are contributing members of society.

Description

On June 4, 2012, The Summerhouse first opened its doors as a full time daily educational program encompassing basic life skills, social and emotional skills, functional academics and vocational training focused on entry into community-based employment. We distinctively focus on 16-29 year old individuals during the vulnerable transition from a structured high school environment into adulthood where they must take a bigger part in organizing their own lives. Ultimately, our goal is for each person we serve to engage in meaningful work and to live as independently as their own, unique capabilities will allow. All of our programs teach some, if not all, of the skills they will need to advance along this developmental continuum.
