Mission Statement

The American Lung Association is the nation's oldest voluntary health agency originally organized to fight a specific disease, tuberculosis. For over 100 years, the American Lung Association has been fighting lung disease through education, advocacy and research. Lung disease, including asthma, emphysema and lung cancer, is the third leading cause of death in America. Our mission is to prevent lung disease and promote lung health.

Contributions of time, money and event sponsorship allow the Lung Association to help those who suffer with lung disease through mission driven community outreach initiatives and programs.

Would you recommend American Lung Association?

by Sally X. from Pittsburgh (September 27, 2009)
Did not respond to their advertisement or a phone call to their main office (over a two week period). The coordinator then called the day before the event and was very upset that I had made other plans. I had assumed they didn't need more volunteers.
