ASPIRA, Inc. of New Jersey is a private, nonprofit community-based organization founded in 1968 to serve the educational needs of Latino youth. ASPIRA’s basic belief is that the path out of poverty must be through education. Serving approximately 2,800 youth annually, ASPIRA has for the past 45 years assisted more than 60,000 at-risk minority students in urban middle schools and high schools. Of this number, 90% remained in school and obtained their high school diplomas; and 80% continued their studies at a college or other post-secondary institution.
