Mission Statement

To build mentoring relationships that empower students from Olney Charter High School to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. Our goals are to assist students in receiving support and guidance from a mentor. To improve academic performances of our mentees.To improve interpersonal relationships between our students and their peers, their teachers, and adults in their lives.

The purpose of the Mentoring Program is to increase the achievement levels of Olney’s students. The program will reach out to and make a difference in the community and in the lives of its youth. Using different resources to make an impact in their lives.


Description

A mentor is a wise and trusted friend and guide.

Mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee.

Types of Mentoring Responsible mentoring can occur in these forms:

•Traditional mentoring: One adult to one young person

• Groupmentoring:One adult to up to four young people

•Team Mentoring:Several adults working with small groups of young people

• Peer mentoring:Caring youth mentoring other youth

• E-mentoring:mentoring via e-mail and the internet
