Description

We tutor students in two high schools in Paterson to help them qualify for college. We encourage them to return to Paterson to help restore the city to its former level of prosperity.

The program has 3 elements: tutoring & special events to educate & expose students to life & opportunities outside their range of experience, financial aid while in college and career guidance by testing, interview and evaluation.

YSD is a qualified, charitable non-profit in NJ and is 501(c)(3) registered. The Board of Trustees (12) & Tutors (16) are volunteers. We have one paid contractor who is our Program Coordinator, a teacher in Paterson. The program originated between West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood and United Presbyterian Church in Paterson but is independent. Some support does come from Presbyterian sources but we also are funded byindividual gifts and foundation grants.

We, as a people, need more services aim towards educating our youth. These days, children are more lost than they ever been mostly because of what our media portrays. We need all the help we can get. How can I help?
