Walk the Walk

Position: Case assistant

The volunteer will assist individual case managers with administrative aspects of providing services to older individuals who have suffered some form of abuse.

Walk the Walk was founded in 1993 as a community-based, non-for-profit agency providing integrated case management services to abused elderly and their families in New York City. The agency currently provides comprehensive case management, referral and information, assistance in negotiating the legal, financial and housing systems and outreach and counseling services to seniors who are victims of crime or abuse, and educational workshops that focus on elder abuse issues. In the fall of 2003, Walk the Walk is opening Mary's House, the nation's first elder-only emergency shelter for abuse victims.
