Description
Seeking volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in juvenile court.
To alleviate an overburdeoned child welfare system by advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children in juvenile court. CASA's make recommendations to a juvenile judge regarding the best interests of children who are currently in the custody of the State. A volunteer is assigned to a child who has been found to be "In Need of Care. A CASA would "follow" the child through the process of their court proceedings; monitor their placement in foster care, make recommendations regarding potential family placement, recommend tutoring in school, further psychological therapy, seek out missing or unknown family, etc. Only 1/4 of the children in care are assigned a CASA.
