CCNC MISSION STATEMENT To protect, preserve and restore our natural environment. To ensure for all North Carolinians the opportunity to experience the power and beauty of a natural world. To encourage the public to understand and to appreciate North Carolina's unique natural environment. To be a voice for those who suffer the effects of unsound environmental public policy. To provide a way for the public to take responsibility for creating better policy. To join with the initiatives of others in promoting these goals.
Description
CCNC was formed over 30 years ago as a statewide organization dedicated to protecting NC's environment and natural resources, and advocating positive changes in NC's environmental policies. As part of this effort, CCNC Supports a full-time lobbyist at the General Assembly Provides environmental representation before numerous state agencies Initiates legal cases within the court system, filing suit when necessary Collaborates with other environmental organizations on legislative strategies and lobbying efforts Keeps environmentalists across the state informed of developments in and around the legislature, including timely action alerts on key issues Publishes the Carolina Conservationist, our member newsletter which gives a close look at current environmental issues Conducts educational programs Provides services for environmental groups aimed at improving organizational capacity
