Mission Statement

Latinas Unidas por un Nuevo Amanecer (translation: Latinas United for a New Dawn) (L.U.N.A) is a community-based non-profit corporation whose primary initiative is:

  1. 1. To support and advocate for the welfare and rights of actual and potential victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  2. 2. To organize, train and educate Latina women on the subjects of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  3. 3. To provide personal and professional development opportunities for employees, volunteers and clients of the organization.

Description

L.U.N.A is a non-profit organization established in October of 2002. L.U.N.A.’s goal is

to provide 24-hour crisis intervention, legal immigration advocacy, and on-going

support/advocacy to immigrant victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, with

an emphasis on providing these services in a culturally-specific context to the Latino

Community. L.U.N.A.'s mission is to empower, educate and advocate for

victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in our community, so that

they may build futures free from violence.
