Fosters the spirit of volunteerism

The San Juan College Center for Service Leadership RSVP Program is unique in that; the program offers meaning volunteer opportunities to seniors 55 and better to provide volunteer service to over 120 non-profit agencies in San Juan County. San Juan County is the 5th largest county in New Mexico and can be compared to the size of Rhode Island. Also, San Juan County is rich in diversity and culture. The San Juan County RSVP Program has been developed to help seniors maintain a health and active lifestyle, and to meet critcal community needs in the communities and organizations they serve. RSVP Volunteers have the opportunity to provide their skills, expertise,and life experiences in a variety of meaningful service opportunites that include mentoring at-risk youth, assessing potiental hazards for ground water contimination, mentor welfare reform clients, become an advocate for abused and neglected children, deliver meals on wheels to homebound seniors, teach ESL to adults, provide community policing, provide crisis telephone counseling, help counsel pregnant teens, offer tender loving care to children age birth to 5, and serve hot meals to the homeless RSVP Volunteers in San Juan County meet actual critical community needs and get things done.
