SHARE YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCE BY BECOMING AN RSVP VOLUNTEER

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, as tutor/mentors in schools, become a voice for an abused child in the courts, read to someone who is invalided, make daily "Are You OK" calls to elderly homebound, visit day care centers, work directly with law enforcement/criminal justice Departments, hospitals, distribute emergency food boxes, install safety items for elderly homebound, assist in a battered woman's shelter, serve inside or outside at an arboretum or national monument park, help set up the new Homeland Security volunteer unit in your area. Just say, "Yes, I want to volunteer to bring a benefit to my community." Serve on the RSVP Advisory Councils for Gila/PInal Counties and help identfy community needs and solutions through volunteerism. Lives are changed and sometimes saved through your efforts to reward your community with your precious time. Studies show that those who volunteer live longer, happier lives. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
