Mission Statement

The Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation’s mission is to develop and operate facilities and programs to improve the quality of life in Oklahoma City, pursue the highest goals of sports and fitness, attract diverse involvement in the boathouses and related events that generate a positive public image and economic opportunity, and promote the use and development of the Oklahoma River as a world-class urban aquatic venue.

Description

The OKC Boathouse Foundation believes the Oklahoma River has the power to change lives - and help Oklahoma City become a stronger, healthier community. In just a few short years, Foundation supporters have seen their vision come to life as people of all ages and from all parts of the city, have become involved in rowing, kayaking, dragon boating, running and cycling at the Oklahoma River.

National and international racing events and festivals including USA Canoe/Kayak Olympic Trials for Flatwater Sprint, the international Rowing World Challenge and the annual OCU Head of the Oklahoma have garnered national and international media attention. Today, our city is becoming known for our river and our river sports. With the addition of two new boathouse s, we are becoming known for our iconic row of boathouses and a racing venue unparalleled in the world. MAPS 3 means we will soon have a world-class Whitewater Rafting & Kayak Center on the river, along with our new permanent lighting and race infrastructure!

The future of the Oklahoma River grows more exciting with each day. We invite you to learn about all the ways you can get involved - then join us as we continue building a city with a river at its heart!

They are very organized and took really great care of us. I got a t-shirt, free parking, snacks, drinks and lunch. It was really neat to see all the racing going on during the event. I didn't even feel like I was in OKC when I was there - it felt like a bigger city. I loved being a part of all the development on The Oklahoma River and plan on volunteering again - highly recommend you checking it out as a volunteer!
