Description

Help to bring computer and on line literacy to older adults - the people who missed out on the computer revolution often because they retired before computers were an integral part of the workplace!

SeniorNet Learning Centers are places where computer classes, specifically designed for older adults, are offered. They are places where a student who has never before used a computer can learn basic computer skills. Skills include how to turn the system on and off - how to use the mouse to drag and drop and point and click - how to write, edit, save and print a letter; and how to access and use the Internet and other online services to send e-mail and to participate in a chat. SeniorNet currently offers these courses: Fundamentals and Intro to Computers, Exploring Windows, Going Online, Introduction to Word Processing and Quicken, Intro and Intermediate Graphics and Scanning, Genealogy using Family Tree Maker.

I would recommend this oragnaization because computers connect us with the outside world. Without leaving home computers expand, connect, teach, and investigate the world around us. The family is one click away, medical resources one click away, travel, shopping, exploration just one click away. Computers have become the highway to everything old and new. Senior Net provides to those who missed the computer revolution skills to navigate, explore, and communicate without leaving home. Senior Net is a valuable organization to the elderly.
