Mission Statement

The Hurston/Wright Foundation supports the national and internation community of black writers with programs, seminars and workshops. Since 1990 the Foundation has provided workshops for black writers from teens to adults, with over one thousand writers attending and working with some of the country's best writers. The Foundation's Legacy Award is recognized as the premier literary award for black writers from their peers.

Description

The Foundation works with young people and adults interested in writing, through the workshops, readings and lectures that we offer. Annually we present a major gala the Legacy Awards.
