Mission Statement

Founded in 1960, Prince George's Little Theatre has presented over 180 productions - a mix of comedies, mysteries, dramas and musicals. Our all volunteer company puts on 3 shows a season, and our members do everything from directing and acting to stage managing, set design and construction, costumes, musical direction, choreography, props, publicity, group sales and much more. Membership is open to anyone who is interested in theater arts - rank beginners and show veterans alike are welcome to join in the fun!

Our official Mission Statement is as follows:

Since 1960, PGLT continually provides all volunteer theatre fro the enjoyment and artistic development of its members and the community. The goal of PGLT is to present quality performances at affordable prices.

PGLT is a community theatre group of all volunteers, who produce three shows a season (August - May) at the 150 seat Bowie Playhouse which has a proscenium stage. We get technical theatre support from the county parks and recreation department, so the sound and light board are operated by playhouse staff. But all other aspects of our plays are the result of the creative work of dozens of volunteers. We entertain local audiences by providing quality productions at reasonable ticket prices. PGLT is a member of the WATCH (the Washington Area Theatre Community Honors, which awards community theaters with excellence awards much like the DC professional circuit has the Helen Hayes Awards and Broadway has the Tony Awards.) In 2013, we received 8 WATCH nominations.

Our Values:

We believe in community building through community theatre.

We believe in the enriching experience of live theatre and that everyone should be encouraged to participate.

We belive that live theatrical production offers audiences a unique opportunity to bridge cultural differences.
