Description
Seniors in Service to their communites; making a difference in their world.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Herkimer County works to offer seniors, 55 years of age and older, the opportunity to share their talents, interests, and compassion through service to those in need in their communities. Seniors may volunteer at one of the 58 RSVP stations located throughout Herkimer County. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, hospitals, food pantries, thrift shops and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. The program matches the personal interests and skills of seniors with opportunities to help solve the unmet needs in local communities. It offers its volunteers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
