MISSION: To provide programs that enrich, educate and equip youth to reach their full potential. We are an educational and service-oriented 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization focused on AT Risk youth ages 14-21. We desire to positively stimulate the spirits of these young people to become responsible and productive citizens of their community and society in a safe after-school setting. We intend to accomplish this by mentoring/training the youth in various skills involving communication, visual and media Arts.
YABE'( Youth Aspiring Bold Empowerment ) was formerly Feeding HIs Lambs, Inc., a religious corporation. As our vision evolved, we became an Arts program designed to bring Visual and Media Arts to youth in underserved communitites. LAUSD housed our program, free of charge, on one of their forty option school campuses ( Duke Ellington Contibuation High School ). We operated the after-school program for two hours o, three times a week on the Duke Ellington campus. Student attendance ranged from 5-13 students on a weekly basis. Southwest College in LA hosted our first community art showing...An Art Extravaganza! Apple Computers via the Apple Store in Manhattan Beach volunteered instructors to instruct the students in photography, editing, and video-making. We also enjoyed the prized volunteer time of Mr. Mark Yamamoto, a professional artist from the West Side and his entourage who also volunteered their time to bring Visual Arts to the students. The community art showing was under the direction of Mr. Yamamoto.
YABE' was extended an invitation from USC to attend its first annual Hack-A-thon! It was a remarkable show and the YABE' program director, along with another student, attended the event.
