Description
The syringe exchange offers interventions and supplies to people who use injection drugs for the purpose of prevention of HIV and Hepatitis C prevention. The principle of harm reduction is used with clients: meaning we meet clients where they are in their use and give them information and tools to keep themselves as safe and healthy as possible. The syringe exchange is open 8 hours weekly. Training is done on the job and volunteers are placed where they are most comfortable in serving the clients. Client services include: used syringe disposal, supplies including syringes, works, first aid and hygiene items, Hepatitis C tests, Overdose prevention and Naloxone distribution, Hepatitis A/B vaccines, harm reduction education and community referrals. All at no cost to clients.
