The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on her scientific observations of children; she developed the planes of development (from birth to adulthood), which are used to group children for the purpose of providing the best learning environment. The Montessori Method has been used for more than a century and has been adopted by diverse cultures throughout the world. The Montessori Method fosters independence, responsibility, respect and competency. Students receive interest-based lessons and may work in small groups or individually.
