Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Seeking volunteers to tutor students in reading, need Reading Recess volunteers to show students how much fun reading is, classroom helpers, after school tutors and child care helpers.
Seahurst Elementary is a Washington Reading Corps school, so each year we are able to target a group of 100 or more students who will benefit from extra reading help. To help these students reach their goal of reading at or above grade level, we combine one-on-one tutoring and mentoring with several different programs to make reading fun and easy, as well as to tap into family and community support. Volunteers are the heart of the program, whether they act as one-on-one tutors during school hours, volunteer at the after school program, or give students reading-related options during their recess time. Volunteers provide students with the support and encouragement they need to believe in themselves and to explore the world reading opens up.
