Mission Statement

Vilano Beach Main Street, Inc. is a nonprofit entity designated in 2003 as a Florida Main Street organization with the mission to preserve, maintain and improve the historic 1927 Vilano Beach Plat and significant historic properties through educating the general public about the significance of the district’s architecture, history, environment and culture. The organization uses the National Main Street Center Four Point Approach to historic preservation and economic revitalization with stated goals addressing design, organization, promotion and economic restructuring.

Description

Vilano Beach Main Street Program is a collaborative partnership originally operating under North Shores Improvement Association, est.1939. The mission of the organization evolved since 1999 embracing a new vision to maintain a sense of place and create a sustainable, pedestrian friendly Town Center located between the Atlantic and Intracoastal. Technical assistance and grants from Waterfronts Florida & FL Main Street Programs allowed funding to implement innovative land use design & standards, establish a Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) and Tax Incentive Fund (TIF) for incentives, streetscape, underground utilities, fountains, bell tower, signage, public art, historic preservation, nature boardwalk, water park, and oceanfront park acquisition. In 2012 Vilano Beach Main Street, Inc. was formed to create a business and economic restructuring component to the Town Center Community revitalization.
