Visit older persons needing extra assistance in their homes

Senior Companions are men and women age 60 and over who visit older adults who need assistance in order to remain in their homes. Companions are matched with several persons (consumers) whom they visit on a regular basis, for a total of 20 hours a week. In addition to the personal satisfaction of helping others, Senior Companions receive a tax-free stipend of $2.65 per hour; travel and meal reimbursements; accident and liability insurance; holiday, sick and vacation time; paid pre-service training, plus four hours a month of continuing training. Applicants must meet program income guidelines (under $967/month for single person; under $1,313/month for couple).
