Mission Statement

The Cass Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem Program recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children. It is our mission to provide a volunteer for every South Carolina child who is involved in an abuse and neglect case in Family Court.

Our volunteers advocate for children who have been abused or neglected. We work one-on-one with children, and help them find safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. We learn as much as possible about the child, so that we can advocate effectively for them, both in and out of the courtroom. We pride ourselves on remaining with a child throughout their entire case, and are often the only adults who are stable in their lives during this turbulent time. Our volunteers make a positive impact on children's lives.

I am A DSS caseworker so I see the lack of advocacy for a child. 803-565-8048 please if someone can contact me I would like to see how I could help and hear more about your organization

All it takes is one voice to share and educate others about how our children are counting on us to be their voice to advocate for them.

children need an advocate in difficult situations in order to positively guide their development. I have been a guardian at litem for over 10 years in Pickens Co SC and recently moved to Hilton Head.

The Guardian Ad Litem is a court appointed volunteer assigned to children who are victims of neglect or abuse in their homes. The Lexington County program does amazing work and the people who run the program are outstanding! I would recommend this opportunity to anyone wishing to advocate for the best interests of children.

I really do not know enough about this program. I hope to learn and then hopefully become a volunteer.
