Description

Take part in the Unity of the Spirit of America!

The Unity in the Spirit of America initiative enables Americans to honor those lost in the September 11th attacks by dedicating service projects in their name. Take part in, or organize, an existing USA Act volunteer project in your community.

The Unity in the Spirit of America Act, signed by President Bush on January 10, called for the Points of Light Foundation--which partnered with the Volunteer Center National Network--to identify and organize at least 5,000 volunteer service projects across the United States, each in tribute to one of the victims of the September 11 attacks.

An essential part of this initiative is the website: http://www.usa.pointsoflight.org. Participating families have provided biographical data that is the basis of the honoree database. This searchable website allows project leaders to enter information about their projects and to match those projects with victims' names or to request that a name be assigned by the Foundation.

Please visit the USA web site to see if there is an existing opportunity in your community or consider sponsoring an event.
