Our mission is to build a community to be proud of, one family at a time; (1)Teach 4 year old children to read. (2)Increase parent participation and training. (3) Create family activities.

PICDC is a non-profit orginization. Our job is to meet the need of the community when possible. After careful research our board of directors determined our areas of concentration are: at risk youth, parent envolvment,education,career development and job training for low income families. Head Start services provide free child care to low income families until 2:00pm daily. Our day care services will meet the need by caring for children of working parents from 2:00pm until 6:00pm. Statistics provided by TN Dept.of Education state 41% of 5 year old children entering Kindergarten have never been in a classroom setting. In 2003 Shelby County had an alarming number of students repeat Kindergarten. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty.
