This year, Thousands of children who would otherwise not have enough sets of school uniforms, book bags, and school supplies to last throughout the year, will hopefully now get a few extra sets! The Safe Schools Extravaganza will feature various family activities centered on preparing students for school, along with a giveaway of school uniforms, book bags, and supplies. Healthy snacks will be provided along with face painting, and balloon artists will also offer arts and crafts activities for the kids. A local hair stylist will offer free haircuts for students. There will be a youth talent show for students who are interested in the arts and a grand prize will be provided to the winners of the contest. The day will be filled with free food and free music showcases by local talent. Area organizations will be in attendance to offer information on tutoring, job training resources, small business development, health resources, and more.
The event will be held on Saturday, September 20th, at the Leaguers Inc (405-425 University Ave) from 10am to 3pm. Our goal is to raise 1,000 full s chool u niform sets, 2 ,000 book bags and school supplies for thousands of needy children. That can only happen if all of us put our hearts on the line to donate or help get the word out. This is a cause that merits your generous support. As an organization, we recognize that all of us have been impacted by the recent economic recession. However, we believe that if we all work together we can make a difference. The need is simply too great.
