Description

The Help Line is the oldest crisis line in the state. We provide 24-hour, 7-day-a-week coverage so any individual in crisis has a compassionate volunteer to talk with.

The Help Line utilizes trained volunteers to provide crisis intervention and referalls to our callers. People call regarding all sorts of topics and situations. Volunteers are required to complete a 20-hour training program to teach them the use of the Developmental Helping Model to respond to crisis calls. Volunteers are asked to make a 6-month commitment and take one 6-hour shift per week. Calls come through an answering service and are patched to the volunteer's home. Help Line staff are available 24/7 to support volunteers.
