Got a smile, transportation, and at least an hour a week? Hospice volunteering is more 'being' than 'doing'. Spending time with a dying patient is one of the best volunteer opportunities available.

We are the Nashville branch of Odyssey Healthcare, one of the largest national hospice providers . In Nashville we've grown in 5 short years to become the 2nd largest local hospice provider with over 200 patients. Those patients need volunteers.

Our staff of nurses, doctors, home health aides, chaplains, and social workers does a great job of 'doing' for our patients. They take care of pain, teach the family how to do direct care for their loved one, and reduce the stress of paperwork.

Volunteers are the only staff members whose job it is to just 'be' with the patient. Volunteers listen, read, and 'spoil' them by fussing over their makeup. One volunteer brought pizza to a patient who had never eaten it before. The patient loved it!
