Description

We’re looking to identify a leader who brings for-profit start up thinking into our dedicated Board of Directors. We want someone who knows that scale, data, and strategy are not just terms that drive profit, but can make real change in our world. This director will be actively refining our model, critiquing our approach, and working with us at our core strategy, to teach nonprofits to function as smart businesses.

Change Better is a startup - we’re only a few months old. As such, this position is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual to have significant influence in our work. We are looking for someone who is ready to roll up his or her sleeves and partner with us to grow this organization.

The board will support the work of Change Better and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by Change Better’s Chief Executive Officer, the Board-CEO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is critical. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

  • Continue to develop and implement the organization’s business plan

  • Serve as a voice and perspective in Change Better’s mission to "help nonprofits to think like a business"

  • Review outcomes and metrics created by Change Better for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics

  • Attend and participate in quarterly Board meetings, with at least one in-person meeting a year

  • Attend Change Better sponsored events such as fundraising events, community awareness events and receptions

  • Approve Change Better’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities

  • Assist the organization’s leadership and Board Chair in identifying and recruiting additional Board Memb e rs

  • Partner with the leadership and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out

  • Serve on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments

  • Represent Change Better to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization

Board terms/participation: Change Better’s Board Members will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for two additional terms. Board meetings will be held quarterly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings.

Service on Change Better’s Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to Board Members’ duties.
