The mission of Global Gardens is to empower students in low-income communities to become agents of change through hands-on science and peace education. Helping students create a garden is a way not only to assist them in learning about science, health and the environment, but also to challenge them to become caring, forward-thinking and confident individuals.
Global Gardens is committed to working in low-income communities. Now at four sites in both the Tulsa Public Schools and the Union Public Schools, more than 2,000 people participate in Global Gardens each week. Global Gardens offers students a place to engage in peaceful activity and play a major role in transforming their communities through gardens.
We accomplish our mission through:
1. During-school programming that supports state science standards and inspires active learning.
2. After-school and summer programs that help students build skills and connections.
3. Community gardens that strengthen families and increase food security.
