Description

PSC offers challenging and satisfying volunteer jobs!

The Portage Senior Center is Michigan's first nationally accredited senior center. Established in 1979, it is a leader in the field and offers innovative programing in many areas. About 2500 seniors take advantages of the programs and services of the Center. Of the current 86 weekly activities, 46 are led by volunteers. In addition to the educational, social/recreational and fitness programing, the Center offers services such as transportation, tax assistance, support groups, outreach to frail elderly and many types of information giving. It is a department of the City of Portage. Staff, friends and volunteers raise over 50 percent of the Center's operating budget. The small staff is augmented by about 250, mostly senior, volunteers.
