Mission Statement

NCJW|LA ensures economic justice and equity for women in Los Angeles through direct cash assistance, skill building, and advocating for policies that safeguard women's financial stability and prosperity. We work in community with women to create a Los Angeles wherein all women succeed financially, physically, socially, and emotionally. We believe when women achieve financial independence and stability, we will disrupt systems that perpetuate poverty and build a Los Angeles where everyone thrives.

Description

Program Goals

The P.A.I.D. program aims to develop a plan for change and conduct a study to show how maternal health and poverty are connected. Other goals include:

  • Reduce the economic burden of low-income pregnant people.
  • Make life better for pregnant people with low income from different races. As well as fix the unfair differences in their social, economic, and health situations during pregnancy.
  • Improve the quality of life of babies born into low-income families.

The Pregnancy Assistance Income with Dignity (P.A.I.D.) program provides direct cash assistance to pregnant people. P.A.I.D. is one of seven partner sites in a statewide Guaranteed Income pilot program through the California Department of Social Services.
