Mission Statement

Luminario Ballet presents national/international professional contemporary ballet en pointe and cutting edge Cirque du Soleil style aerial dance to general audiences.

Luminario Ballet tours, and presents an annual repertory Season in Los Angeles. Choreographers range from well known such as Michael Smuin and Bella Lewitzky to emerging talents such as Josie Walsh, Jamal Story, and award winning director Judith FLEX Helle.

Luminario Ballet represents the vibrant, exceptional, talented and diverse LA population.

Luminario Ballet performs commissioned works for symphonies or special performances, and is currently premiering "TRAILS" a ballet about climate change, with images from NASA.

Luminario Ballet is a small organization of about 12 dancers, and a small core of administrative volunteers, including Judith FLEX Helle, director.

Our rehearsal space is south of the 10 freeway, in the West Adams district, but our performances have strecthed up and down the California Coast and to the Florida Coast in 2013, at the Miami Dance Festival.

Luminario Ballet has a rotating choreorgapher roster, selected carefull each year by director Judith FLEX Helle.

The company is aligned with the Marat Daukayev Ballet School, run by Kirove Ballet legend Marat Daukayev.

The company's dancers and aerialists are all over 18, but the relationship with the MDSB exists as a school where Luminario Ballet feels the training will prepare students for a professional paid career in dance.
