Mt. Scott Learning Centers

Description

Volunteers will tutor students at an alternative Middle and High School up to twice per week in both Math and English.

Mt. Scott Learning Centers is an alternative school affiliated with the Portland Public School system. It serves children whose needs have not been met in the normal public schools by providing a nuturing environment and smaller class sizes.

Tutors are needed to work with struggling students in the subject areas of math, reading, and writing. Many of these students are well below grade level and need extra time and attention to successfully complete their work.

Tutors will work with students in half hour blocks of time up to two times per week. The number of students the senior voluteer will tutor is dependent on both the number of volunteers and the number of students in need.
